“Avenue L” is an uptempo swing tune that I wrote several years ago and performed with the Brigham Young University Jazz Lab Band. Unfortunately, the recording from that evening has been very difficult to track down, so I decided to get together a group of friends and make a new recording under the name “The Bobby St. Mute Big Band.” This was also a good opportunity to put to use some of the improvisational skills that I’ve been really focusing on for the last year or so.
